How to Tie Your Waist Beads

What will you need:

    • Scissors
    • Bowl or dish to catch extra beads
    • Mirror

Optional: sage or incense, soothing music

  1. Wash your hands. You can even light a candle and take a bath or shower to set the vibe.
  2. Cleanse your waist beads with sage or incense.
  3. Hold your waist beads in your hands and set your intentions.
  4. You will notice that each strand has two gold beads. The ends of each strand are tied in a bow. All you have to do is pull each gold bead in opposite directions and the bow will unravel.
  5. Wrap the strand around your waist and decide where you would like to position it. If this is your first experience with waist beads, I suggest that you tie them high, like around your belly button area. By placing the strands higher up, there will be less chance of you snagging them when you take your clothes off.
  6. Push all the beads together and make sure that there are no gaps between the beads.
  7. Once you have it positioned properly, tie your first knot.
  8. Cut off the gold anchor beads at each end of the waist bead and release the excess beads into a dish. This will make it easier for you to tie the rest of your knots.
  9. Tie at least a total of 5-7 knots, pulling each knot securely.
  10. Cut the excess string. Cut close to your knots but make sure you leave a tiny bit of space.
